A typical day at the San Sophia Hiking and Wellness Program would look something like:


6:00amA wake up knock on your door to start your day, with juice in the dining room
6:30amAn energizing yoga and stretching class to get your muscles and body awaken from the night before
7:30amA hearty, yet sensible breakfast to give your body the fuel it will need for the day ahead.
8:00amWhile you are finishing breakfast get with your group of the day and discuss with your guide your adventure for the day.
8:30amDepart for the trail-head. Each of the hikes that our guides have chosen are based on the natural beauty of the surrounding areas and are designed to be goal oriented to keep the group motivated. Lunch will be distributed at the trail-head.
12:00pmLunch in a convenient spot along the trail – a beautiful meadow, a rock outcropping overlooking the valley floor, or next to a rushing stream.
4:00pmArrive back at the Inn for refection on the day either with companions you have met while in the program or self reflection with yourself. This is also when we will have prearranged your personal massage. This is also a great time to unwind with your favorite book.
6:00pmDinner with the group. Our staff will lead you through your dinner teaching you how it was prepared, exactly what you are eating, and how you to can prepare the same meal once you leave the program.
8:00pmA chance to get out do a last bit of exercise before retiring for the day in anticipation of another full day.


As you can see a day in the program is very structured but does allow you a little free time to reflect and get a sense of being while in our beautiful natural surrounding. We have determined that these elements combine to be the best balance of fitness, fun, and relaxation for a healthy rejuvenating vacation.

We believe in teaching with a very “hands on” approach. You will know exactly why you are eating what you are eating, how it was prepared, alternatives to get the same results, and how to incorporate the fundamental philosophies behind the program. We want to give you the tools to take the lifestyle you experience here back home with you once the program is over. The San Sophia Hiking and Wellness Program does not end when you leave Telluride, it is a lifestyle.

The basic philosophy behind the program is to teach you and let you experience a different lifestyle that you can incorporate into your everyday life. Our program is based on you learning to control what you put into your body. Your body will give back what you put in. We believe that maintaining the correct blood sugar throughout the day is the key to making the body feel its best.
